The UCL Global Business School for Health (GBSH) at UCL East campus is an innovative business school preparing future healthcare leaders to disrupt and reimagine global health systems. GBSH is dedicated to training and developing the next generation of leaders in the global health economy by building on UCL’s proud tradition of cross-disciplinary academic excellence in education and research.

This post will support our interdisciplinary research agenda as well as contribute to our postgraduate degree programmes. The successful post holder will bring leadership and expertise in health policy and systems research, with a focus on health systems strengthening and health equity. Given the interdisciplinary approach to health challenges taken at Global Business School for Health, we would expect this person to be able to work across disciplines and engage effectively with diverse health system stakeholders, in responding to important problems confronting health systems at subnational, national and / or global levels. Long standing experience of research and existing partnerships in low- and middle-income countries are particularly welcome. A role holder at this level will require in-depth knowledge within their area of expertise with a national and international reputation in their field, together with the ability to develop new knowledge and understanding within the field.

You will be required to have PhD in health systems, health policy, public health, global health, health economics or other relevant social science, or a related field. You will have knowledge of key debates in health policy and practice across different health systems and the potential to contribute positively to these. You will also have an in-depth knowledge within an area of expertise on health systems and policy and a national and international reputation in the field.

We are looking for a candidate with experience in teaching on an academic programme and research or work experience in health systems strengthening with a health equity orientation in low- and middle-income countries. In addition, you will have long standing experience of collaborative research and existing partnerships in low- and middle-income countries and supervising PhD students to completion. You will have the proven ability to conduct internationally excellent interdisciplinary research with a track record of research and/or enterprise funding as principal investigator or co-investigator.

You will have excellent organisational, prioritisation and communication skills with the ability to engage ethically and effectively with diverse health system stakeholders, develop significant new knowledge and understanding on health systems and policy and deliver research-led effective, engaging, and inclusive postgraduate teaching.
