The Department of National Security in the Lee College at the University of New Haven invites nominations and applications for a Department Chair at either the Associate or Full Professor rank.

The University of New Haven’s National Security department includes a dynamic undergraduate program encompassing four distinct bachelor’s degrees (Homeland SecurityIntelligence AnalysisInternational Affairs, and Security & Defense Policy), a Master of Science in National Security, and several practitioner oriented certificates.

You need:

Demonstrate experience especially in recruiting students from diverse populations.

  • Prior higher education administrative experience as a leader of an academic department, and/or academic program
  • Prior experience designing academic programs aligned with the workforce needs of government agencies and the private sector in the national security and/or homeland security fields
  • Ability to establish formal partnerships with outside agencies to create opportunities for faculty and students is especially desirable
  • A terminal degree in international relations, international security, security studies, public policy, political science, or related field is required; Ph.D. preferred
  • Tenure can be awarded to applicants that have received tenure at another accredited institution of higher education
  • Tenurable Assistant Professors may also be considered in accordance with these qualifications
