About the Role:

The overall purpose of the Associate Professor of Paramedicine position is to contribute to the academic leadership in the Paramedicine Unit at Victoria University, to innovate and promote the scholarship of teaching, learning and, in particular, research in Paramedicine. This will include making significant contributions to the teaching and learning responsibilities within the Paramedic discipline.

The Associate Professor of Paramedicine will be expected to develop the research portfolio within Paramedicine at Victoria University. This will include active participation in decisions relating to resource development and budgetary allocations for research projects within the Paramedicine discipline. It will also include collaboratively leading the successful maintenance of accreditation through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). The Associate Professor will also be expected to facilitate research related to the Paramedicine discipline, and mentor academics in the Paramedicine Unit to develop research capability.

Duties:

An example of duties you may perform includes:

  • Lead and develop the teaching and research nexus within undergraduate and postgraduate Paramedicine curriculum; 
  • Assure that the delivery of the Paramedicine programs is conducted in accordance with accreditation requirements; 
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, and symposiums (as appropriate); 
  • Initiate, develop and conduct high quality research projects in collaboration with research leaders in the University, university key industry partners and other external organizations; and
  • Contribute to the leadership and mentoring of a team of Paramedicine academics in teaching and research

This is a full-time ongoing position (teaching and research) at Academic D, $149,856 – $165,092 classification, plus 17% superannuation contribution, working 36.75 (1 FTE) hours per week.

About You:

The successful incumbent will be someone with energy who is innovative, progressive and collaborative in the way they work. They will be an excellent communicator who collaborates well with others across the College of Sport, Health, and Engineering, and the University. This position will seek to generate interest from students and via industry networks to engage in Higher Degrees by Research within the Paramedicine Discipline. The Associate Professor of Paramedicine will contribute to ensuring the strength of the Paramedicine discipline in the University and help to develop impactful research within the Paramedic Centre of Excellence.
