Job Summary

We are seeking for a seasoned, professional Associate Program Director that will apply extensive knowledge of professional health education and injury prevention programs and requirements to manage program administration and operations, which may include didactic, research and field consultation-based teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, maintaining databases, tracking learner progress and compliance, and program accreditation. Participates in strategizing, planning, and implementation of substantial program improvements of large scope and high degrees of complexity.  Requires subject matter expertise that is taught to learners through applied research and consultation experiences.

***NOTE: This is a hybrid, part-time role with travel to multiple field site is required.

Department Description

The UC Human Factors & Ergonomics Program is a joint program of the Division of Occupational, Environmental and Climate Medicine in the Department of Medicine at UC San Francisco and the Division of Environmental Health Sciences in the School of Public Health at UC Berkeley.  The primary location of the lab is at the Richmond Field Station in the East Bay.  We are part of the Northern California Center of Occupational and Environmental Health and have a team of approximately 20 students and staff at any given time.  Our program prepares students from engineering, public health, and medicine in human factors and ergonomics with a focus on understanding the relationship between biomechanical exposures and injuries and an emphasis on reducing injuries through prevention through design strategies. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and five or more years or relevant experience and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Advanced knowledge about the field of Human Factors and Ergonomics both in the classroom, the lab, and in the field so learners can apply their didactic education to actual scenarios.
  • Advanced experience in the practice of Human Factors and Ergonomics.
  • Advanced knowledge relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Advanced knowledge of a health professions education program curriculum and requirements. Maintains a broad range of expertise in health professions education theory and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communicator; includes verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills. Ability to handle sensitive personal information with appropriate discretion and judgment.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills. Skills to work collaboratively coordinate and integrate with others throughout the organization. Successful experience working with people with a wide range of backgrounds and skills.
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills. Ability to lead a team, prioritize personal and team tasks and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule. Advanced personal organization skills and ability to apply to administration of the entire program including organizing critical files for compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related area.
  • Advanced knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and skills to develop and implement complex processes and systems improving program quality and efficiency and reducing cost.
  • In-depth knowledge of educational software and technologies to promote a wide-range of teaching and learning goals.
  • In-depth knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program.
