Purpose Statement:
The main role of the incumbent is to provide technical, administrative and logistical support, in the area of Intellectual Property, for the work of the IP for Business Division in the implementation of its programs such as the development of business friendly IP tools and materials and supporting business support organizations to use these tools to assist businesses in exploiting the IP system in their business strategies.
Reporting Lines:
- The incumbent works under the supervision of the Director of the IP for Business Division.
The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:
- Provide technical inputs for the development and implementation of business-friendly tools and materials, in the area of Intellectual Property and related legal disciplines, for using the IP system to support business competitiveness;
- Assist in the implementation of projects that support business intermediaries in integrating IP services into their selection of services;
- Carry out background research, summarize and compile information and draft briefs on various topics in the area of IP Management and other assigned work areas;
- Assist in the organization of events in close coordination with in-house colleagues and external partners, and draft materials as required;
- Review and provide inputs for documents and papers written by external consultants, verify the information by consulting with colleagues in-house, coordinate internal comments, and prepare finalized documents for publication, including on the internet;
- Undertake research on the support services, particularly in the area of intellectual property, provided by SME intermediaries, categorize, compile and organize the information in an easily retrievable format;
- Collect and analyze data, prepare statistics and summary documentation, compile information in support of the development, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the Division’s projects and activities;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education Essential:
- A first-level university degree in law, economics, finance, business management or in a related field.
- At least three years of relevant professional experience whether in the private or the public sector where knowledge of law, entrepreneurship or business management was applicable.
- Experience in IP law, IP management or innovation management.
- Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.
- Knowledge of any other UN language.
