OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Under the overall authority of the Assistant-Director General for Education, the overall supervision of the Director of UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE), the direct supervision of the Chief of Unit of ICT in Health Education of the UNESCO IITE, and the guidance provided by the Section of Health and Education at Education Sector at UNESCO Headquarters, the incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic and technical support for research, conceptualization, development and implementation of programmes and projects aiming to advance education for HIV prevention, health and well-being, including education provided in digital space, powered by ICT and generative artificial intelligence.

 

More specifically, the incumbent will carry out the following tasks and responsibilities:

•    Programme conceptualisation and development
Support the conceptualization and development of programmes and projects aiming to advance education for HIV prevention, health and well-being including education provided in digital space and powered by ICT. Support the implementation of relevant projects in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, other regions and globally. 

 

•    Learning tools and platforms
Support and guide the development and promotion of novel digital tools and learning platforms for young people, educators and other specialists to advance formal and non-formal education for health and well-being. Contribute to the preparation of the content and promotional strategies for these tools and platforms, engage with relevant experts, support communities of practice. 

•    Knowledge generation and sharing
Support regional and global efforts to strengthen the knowledge base on formal and non-formal education for health and well-being for young people including education provided in digital space and prevention of online violence and bullying. Conceptualize, plan, conduct and support relevant research, including on issues related to ethical and effective use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) for health and well-being education. Develop and rollout plans for sharing of knowledge and communicating to varied audiences.

 

•    Working meetings and experience sharing forums
Facilitate the preparation of UNESCO in-person and online forums, working meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, and those implemented in collaboration with partners, including the preparation of agendas, identification and communication with participants and speakers, coordination of logistical arrangements, moderation and presentation. Contribute to the preparation, translation and dissemination of background documents. Support the preparation of briefings, news articles, presentations, document summaries, publications and contribute to other tasks and duties as assigned by the Director of IITE or Chief of Unit.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in education, social sciences, public health or related field.

 

Work Experience

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a professional setting supporting programme implementation in the field of education, public health, HIV prevention and/or health promotion/education of which preferably one (1) year acquired working in the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. 
  • Experience in writing and editing for preparing briefings, presentations, document summaries, and publications.
  • Experience in digital tools and platforms for education/health education.

  • Excellent knowledge of English and very good knowledge of Russian.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

 

Work Experience

  • Previous experience at UNESCO, in the United Nations System or other international organizations.

 

Skills/Competencies 

  • Good knowledge of themes related to HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health, gender and relationships, prevention of violence, bullying and cyberbullying. 
  • Familiarity with ICT and AI applications in educational contexts. Creativity and openness to exploring new approaches to leveraging technology for health and well-being education.
  • Advanced skills in digital tools and platforms for health education. 
  • Advanced knowledge of office software and knowledge of database and analytical tools software.
  • Ability to develop, design and promote compelling knowledge and advocacy products including via the Internet and social media.

 

Languages

  • Good knowledge of French. 

BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS

UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc.

The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 68, 008 US $.
