Org. Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) was established by Security Council resolution 2476 and is mandated to promote and strengthen political stability and good governance, including the rule of law, preserving, and advancing a peaceful and stable environment, supporting an inclusive inter-Haitian national dialogue, and protecting and promoting human rights in Haiti. This position is located within the Security Section for the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti, (BINUH), Port-au-Prince. The incumbent reports to the Security Information Analyst.
Responsibilities
Within the limits of delegated authority, the Associate Security Information Analyst will be responsible for the following duties: • Contributes to the provision of advice to the Chief Security Officer, Security Information Analyst and Chief of Security Information and Operation Centre or a similar entity on threats affecting the United Nations. • Assists with the supervision of the Security Information Cell; Supervises the unit when there is no higher level appointed. • Evaluates and coordinates security information requirements, collection, collation, and dissemination of security threat information to the Chief Security Officer Security Information Analyst or equivalent Designated Officials and Security Management Teams. • Analyses security information identifies trends of threats and security incidents affecting United Nations system personnel, assets, and operations in specific countries. • Conducts trend analysis, gather comprehensive information on all factors of insecurity, assesses the relevance and validity of security information and the reliability of information resources. • Assists Senior Officers, Chief Security Officers, or the Security Information Analyst in the development of specific security risk assessments for individuals UN programmes and activities in countries and regions, or in preparation of rapid threat and risk assessments. • Contributes to the development of corresponding security advisories and recommendations on security operating procedures. • Provides country-wide security analysis, briefing materials and presentations to Chief Security Officer or Security Information Analyst and the Security Management Team on security matters. • Conducts and coordinates research on specific threat factors, support activities of the Crisis Management Team in response to specific security incidents. • Maintains effective communication channels with security authorities of host countries and other interlocutors. • Drafts and coordinates timely dissemination of security threat information to Mission leadership, Security Personnel. • Draft reports on analyses of security incidents affecting United Nations system personnel, assets, and operations. • Contributes to the development of regional threat assessments in coordination with Chief Security Adviser or equivalenting neighboring countries. • Supervises and guides the activities of the Security Information Assistants as well as any national staff assigned to the information cell. • Performs other duties as directed by the Chief Security Officer or Security Information Analyst.

Education
• A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience in military, police or security information management may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
A diploma from a national police or military academy is required
Work Experience
A minimum of two years with of progressively responsible experience in security information analysis with a military, police, state, civilian information management or security management organization is required. Experience in Security Information and Operations Centre (SIOC), Security Information Coordination Unit (SICU), Joint Mission Analysis Centre, maintenance and coordination of priority information requirements, computerized data base and archives, mission wide risk analysis is desirable. Experience in the conduct of statistical analysis to identify trends and security incident patterns is required
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in either language is required; and knowledge of the other is required. Knowledge of Spanish is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
