Position Summary Information

Duties The Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Services reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Services and provides leadership and oversight for the strategic development, implementation, and management of activities and systems related to recruitment, enrollment, and retention as well as student engagement, inclusion, and accessibility.
The Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Success shall:
  • Provide strategic, hands-on leadership in enrollment management based on innovative best practices and in alignment with the university’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  • Oversee enrollment data management and systems that ensure collection, maintenance, protection, and use of student data to support data-informed enrollment operations and enable tracking, reporting and analysis of key metrics.
  • Collaborate with cross-campus entities to ensure all stakeholders are invested and involved in implementing effective strategies for enhancing student engagement, persistence, and success.
  • Work closely with the Vice President for Academic Affairs & Student Services to establish and continuously improve strategic enrollment planning and management.
  • Provide visionary leadership for the Office of Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Success, Career Development, Student Inclusion, and Student Engagement.
  • Ensure institutional compliance and high ethical standards are maintained related to federal/state/university regulations, policies, guidance, and regional accreditation standards in all areas of admissions, recruitment, enrollment, student records and financial aid.
  • Develop, oversee, analyze, and make budget decisions in alignment with the institution’s strategic plan, values and priorities. Approve expenditures and implement budgetary adjustments as appropriate.
  • Assume institutional authority for related grants that advance the recruitment and retention goals of the university
  • Employ management activities that include strategic planning and decision-making: personnel management, budget and resource management; and assessment and continuous improvement of the division’s functional areas.
  • Maintain currency with regional, state, and national trends and best practices in enrollment and student success and recommend changes based on that knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs & Student Services.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience in the areas of enrollment, admissions, and/or financial aid
  • Experience in developing and implementing a successful recruitment and enrollment management plan
  • Successful experience in a position of leadership that demonstrates increasing levels of responsibility and accomplishment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing multiple projects at one time and meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of higher education landscape and societal trends impacting student recruitment and enrollment.
  • Experience using data to inform decision making

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  • Experience working at a public college or university
  • Ability and commitment to sustain and reinforce the University’s distinctive culture, mission, and values;
  • Experience supervising large teams of professionals and administrative staff
  • Experience with successfully managing, implementing CRM platforms to enhance recruiting and retention goals
  • Excellent interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with polished presentation skills.
Salary Schedule Salary Band: A280

University Information Located in historic Athens, Alabama, Athens State University offers junior and senior-level coursework to community college graduates and transfer students holding sufficient credits from other institutions. Presently, over 3,100 students have selected Athens State because of its neighborly environment where 50 majors and degree programs are offered, with courses taught by a supportive and exceptional faculty. Approximately 80% of the students are enrolled in at least one online course. The typical student is a working adult who commutes. Recently, the University was featured in the 2015 Best Value Online College Rankings by OnlineU.org for four online programs including computer science, accounting, education and human resources. The University offers undergraduate degree programs in Liberal Arts, Teacher Preparation, and Business. The University employs more than 350 full and part-time employees with approximately 90 full-time faculty members in three colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, and College of Education. Seventy-five percent of the full-time faculty members hold a terminal degree. The University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
Athens, Alabama is located in north Alabama equidistant between Nashville, TN and Birmingham, AL. Athens is home to several events and festivals that have been featured as the Southeast Tourism Society’s “Top 20 Events in the Southeast” including the Athens Storytelling Festival and the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention.
