Job Overview: In March 2022, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in partnership with the Department of State’s Bureau for Populations, Refugees and Migration, launched the virtual case management program, the Virtual Afghan Placement and Assistance (VAPA) program. Building on the success of this award-winning and innovative program model, the International Rescue Committee is launching the first ever of its kind: Virtual Reception & Placement (VR&P). This program will provide case management services to 3,000 post-arrival assured individuals, for the first 90 days after their arrival, implementing Reception & Placement (R&P) in a virtual setting.

The IRC seeks an Assurance Coordinator for the Virtual Reception & Placement (VR&P) program. The Assurance Coordinator, VR&P, leads the overall pipeline and assurance process for VR&P eligible clients. This includes liaising with the Refugee Processing Center (RPC) on assurance requests, collecting documents for clients via their Virtual Case Manager and reviewing these documents to confirm eligibility prior to request for assurance. The Assurance Coordinator will also work closely with the Program Officer, VR&P and Monitoring Officer, VR&P to inform them of pipeline updates, data, and themes of assurances and arrivals. This position reports to the Deputy Director of the Virtual Resettlement Programs (VRP) team within the Resettlement, Asylum and Integration (RAI) Department.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement pipeline for VR&P clients and oversee pipeline, assurances, eligibility checks and processing steps via IRIS.
  • Support Program Officer and Monitoring Officer in visualizing pipeline and making decisions on allocations of cases to Virtual Case Managers dependent on skills, location, and language capabilities.
  • Ensure that case files and databases are maintained accurately and timely, in accordance with program requirements.
  • Build and develop strategic partnerships with key internal and external partners, including the Refugee Processing Center (RPC) and the IRC Processing team.
  • Support compliance with donor requirements related to assurance and eligibility.
  • Analyze trends across the program using relevant data sources and advise the Deputy Director on the best course of action.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study required.

Work Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience implementing domestic refugee resettlement, specifically with the United States Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) Reception & Placement program
  • At least 1 year of experience overseeing processing and assurance duties for a resettlement agency or local affiliate.

  • Experience and understanding of the Department of State’s Bureau of Populations, Refugees, and Migration’s Reception & Placement (R&P) program.
  • Experience working with newcomer populations, such as refugees.
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
