Come
join one of NAIT’s most dynamic and energetic departments! The AV Service Event
Specialist reports to the Business Operations Manager and is key to providing outstanding
client experience for NAIT’s Conference and Event Services (CE) division. This
individual will be responsible for setting up and troubleshooting A/V systems,
providing A/V support to clients, as well as A/V vendors and planning/leading
specific events, on occasion. The successful candidate must possess the ability
to problem solve, and a passion for providing exceptional customer service. If

Key
Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and
    interfaces with ITS work units as required to assist in successful events,
    including appropriate background music, seamless client experiences, late
    client requests, and customer concern resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Provides audiovisual support including computers, internal communication
    screens, microphones, speaker systems, wireless projectors, sound booths, and
    streaming devices. Supporting types of A/V services including video
    conferencing, streaming service, public address / event set-up and
    support. 
  • Ensures cross training with building systems technology, as well as
    adjusting technical building systems.
  • Maintaining
    professional contact with key client leads to ensure plans represent vision and
    strategic outcomes.
  • Provide
    event-specific organization, administration and supervision.
  • Lead the
    management of designated administrative projects, functions and processes to
    ensure business success, which may include developing and implementing sales
    plans, collaborating with NAIT administrative areas, developing systems to
    manage timelines and costs/budget and understand and be able to manipulate
    event software.
  • Prepare
    professional client communication documents including letters and invoices, and
    appropriately resolve client concerns.

 

Skills
& Abilities:

  • Expertise in
    computer technical services/support; software and hardware; operating systems,
    data infrastructure (including wireless, ethernet and fiber), acoustic and
    sound systems, video systems, programming in modern languages. 
  • Strong
    interpersonal and customer service skills to support positive interactions with
    the NAIT community including customer recovery, having an open and approachable
    personality for working with clients and team members, and consistent
    professional presentation.
  • Flexibility and
    attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Strong leadership
    skills, strong knowledge of event planning practices.
  • Strong time
    management skills to meet objectives and/or deadlines including competing
    timelines.
  • Problem-solving
    skills – ability to analyze information and resolve given knowledge of
    departmental policies/expectations and NAIT processes/policies.
  • Intermediate to
    advanced computer knowledge and processing skills.
  • Knowledge of table
    service etiquette, room layout principles and effective scheduling.
  • Must be able to
    lift to 50 lbs.
  • Proven experience
    in effective event planning and execution.

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of
    grade twelve.
  • Diploma in related
    field such as audio-visual technology or event and media production. A degree
    is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s
    license.
  • Flexibility in
    scheduling is essential, including availability for evenings and weekends.
  • The successful
    candidate will be required to complete orientation and a variety of applicable
    training for this position. 
  • Equivalencies may
    be considered.

 

Remuneration: $40,910.90
– $55,273.71 annually (based on a 29 per hour work week), plus a comprehensive
benefits package. (Classification
– Ed Lab Tech II).                           

This
position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)
Collective Agreement.
