Our clients include Google, Apple, Microsoft and public sector organisations such as the Department of Transport and Transport for West Midlands.The role – Automated Test EngineerWe are looking for a talented Automated Test Engineer to join our QA team. You will be testing our products that are used to manage and deliver both scheduled and real time transit data to our customers.
You will have great attention to detail, are passionate about the testing process and also deliver high-quality, well-tested products. You will need to be an excellent team-player who is able to contribute to our highly skilled team.Our Quality Assurance team is responsible for ensuring that Ito’s Software Products meet the high expectations of the world’s biggest online journey planners, agencies, and authorities. Our customers use these products to enable millions of people worldwide to use their data to make more active and sustainable travel choices. As such this is an impactful role, enabling Ito to deliver its mission to reduce pollution and congestion in urban environments globally.What you’ll do:Reporting to the Test Lead, the role will involve:

  • Manual and Automated testing of systems including UI, API and databases where applicable
  • Testing applications that interact with AWS-managed database services
  • Designing and executing where needed Non-Functional Tests predominantly: Accessibility, Browser/Device Compatibility, Performance, Localisation and Security
  • Working closely with the developers and other testers to continually improve the quality of our software
  • Getting involved throughout the development and testing process
  • Developing automated tests of UIs and APIs in Python adhering to our coding standards
  • Working with developers and specialists to improve the bespoke tooling to aid testability of difficult data scenarios
  • Working to ensure best practices are followed around testing standards and strategies

What you’ll need to demonstrate:

  • An understanding of web-based applications and services
  • Ability to analyse and understand requirements and/or user stories
  • A strong understanding of Automated Test Frameworks especially those built using pytest, ptest-bdd and unittest
  • An understanding of Gherkin and BDD
  • Ability to develop automated tests in python (ideally) or similar OO languages for UI, APIs and Databases
  • Experience automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Postman, Python and Gitlab would be an advantage
  • Integrating and managing test packages using JFrog Artifactory
  • Ability to identify and clearly communicate issues to developers and other project stakeholders
  • A strong desire to get deeply involved, learn new things and identify/fix problems
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and positively manage changes to workload
  • Experience with using task management tools (ideally Jira and Zephyr)
  • Managing and reporting on test case design and execution using Zephyr Scale within Jira
  • A basic understanding of an agile (Scrum) team
  • An ability to learn new products and methodologies quickly and confidently
  • Ability to focus on tasks but welcome collaboration and peer review
  • Experience testing big data applications would also be an advantage
  • You will also need an eye for detail. As a team we are passionate about the quality of our software, not just how it’s written but also how it’s tested and deployed.
