Avionics, Data Handling and Platform AIT Engineer in the Ground Software Systems and Functional Verification Section, Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality (D/TEC).
You will work within the Ground Software Systems and Functional Verification Section, a group of around 25 highly motivated experts in ground software engineering and the assembly, integration and testing of space systems. The Section provides technical support for the development and functional verification and validation of the hardware, software and data for all missions and satellites at ESA.
As a first assignment, you will provide functional support to the CRISTAL (Copernicus polaR Ice and Snow Topographic ALtimeter) project, reporting to the Satellite Engineering and AIV Manager for all technical and programmatic matters. The assignment covers the activities relating to Phases C/D/E1 of the first and recurrent CRISTAL satellites, including storage where applicable. You will work in close cooperation with the project team members, coordinate technical support, and support the System and Payload Managers with technical and programmatic aspects under your responsibility.

A master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required for this post.

In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.
Applicants must be eligible to access technology and hardware which is subject to European and US export control regulations & security clearance by their national security administrations.
During the recruitment process, the Agency may request applicants to undergo selection tests. Additionally, successful candidates will need to undergo basic screening before appointment, which will be conducted by an external background screening service, in compliance with the European Space Agency’s security procedures.
Note that ESA is in the process of transitioning to a Matrix setup, which could lead to organisational changes affecting this position.
