This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager taking on the project management of the Office for Students (OfS) Degree Apprenticeships funding competition.  The Project will deliver and control the plan to increase capacity and new starts on current and new degree level apprenticeship provision.  Working closely with internal and external colleagues, the successful candidate will lead all aspects of the project following the Office for Students (OfS) governance arrangements required to ensure the successful delivery of the Project,

Main Responsibilities

  • Takes responsibility for the project management, compliance, documentation, and safe and compliant execution of this Office for Students (OfS) Degree Apprenticeship Funding Bid, engaging with stakeholders and actively participating in all phases of the project. Identifies, assesses, and manages risks and issues which could affect the success of the project.
  • Effectively estimates and manages costs, outputs, outcomes, timescales, and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project to agreed funding agreements and OfS funding and apprenticeship rules and monitoring regulations.
  • Ensures that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and tracking all activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders, as appropriate. Lead and manage monitoring audits as and when required.
  • Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and acts where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensures that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria. Prepares data and reports as required.
  • Manages the change control procedure and ensures that project deliverables are completed and signed off within planned cost, timescale, and resource budgets.
  • Provides effective project management and takes appropriate action where performance deviates from agreed targets and performance tolerances including the outputs or outcomes.
  • Ensures that the project plans are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured and actioned. Produces appropriate documentation to support these processes.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations/decisions as appropriate.
  • Reports progress on projects plan activities, performance, and forecasts.
  • Assesses risks inherent in proposed changes, to ensure any potential scheduling and performance issues have minimum impact.
  • Contributes to the delivery and the measurement of activities that ensure that the benefits described in the Office for Students (OfS) bid are achieved.
