YFS has an opportunity for a woman or non-binary identifying person to join our well-established Responsible Men facilitation team.

About us

Responsible Men is a men’s behaviour change intervention program that explores beliefs that drive abusive behaviour.

If you’ve got what it takes to guide men to critically reflect on their behaviour, attitudes and beliefs, this could be the role for you. You will work alongside a male Senior Facilitator and receive ongoing practice supervision as part of our innovative, best-practice program.

Whether you are an experienced facilitator or are looking to gain facilitation experience in the domestic and family violence sector, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative, supportive and respected team standing tall to end domestic violence in Logan.

The position offered will be dependent on your facilitation level and experience. We will invest in training and provide experience and mentoring for the right candidate to become a qualified Behaviour Change Facilitator.

To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be a female or non-binary person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants identify as female or non-binary.

About the job

  • Role location: Slacks Creek
  • Role type: Permanent part-time (32 hours) to full-time dependent on facilitator level.
  • Pay range: $82,306 to $94,160 (pro rata) a year based on experience, with salary packaging exempt from Fringe Benefits Tax available.

In this role, you will:

  • prioritise women and children’s safety through risk management and group work with men
  • guide men to critically reflect on their abusive and controlling behaviour, attitudes and beliefs
  • need to be familiar and work in accordance with legislation and practice principles, standards and guidelines
  • have a deep understanding of the gendered nature of domestic violence and evidence that you have applied this understanding in your practice
  • be available for one evening each week, working from 12 noon to 8.30pm on that day
  • benefit from working in an innovative team, with a strong practice framework that increases safety for women and children and holds men accountable for violent and abusive behaviours

About you

Aside from meeting the key capabilities outlined in the related role description available from here, you’ll be a great fit if you:

  • bring an understanding of gendered violence and a feminist practice framework
  • have a collaborative team approach to enhancing the safety of primarily women and children
  • have a person-centred approach to men who have used violence and have complex histories and needs to increase their motivation to change
  • are interested in trying new, innovative approaches to meet the demands of the community
