About the Role
Together with families and support providers, we support adults with a disability to reduce behaviours, improve wellbeing and quality of life. Through positive behaviour strategies and collaboration, we support NDIS participants to gain control, independence and to make positive lifestyle changes.
Reporting to our Behaviour Support Practice Lead, you will support and mentor a small team of Behaviour Support Practitioners (BSPs) to ensure a quality service is delivered to NDIS participants in accordance with their individual NDIS plan. If you have completed a degree qualification (or higher) in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or similar then this could be the role for you!
Other key duties will include:
- Guiding and coaching BSPs and reviewing positive behaviour support plans.
- Encouraging a team-oriented approach to evaluation of service delivery.
- Monitoring your teams’ goals and objectives throughout the year and participating in annual performance reviews.
- Working closely with the team to meet output targets whilst ensuring best practice and excellent stakeholder relationships.
- Developing partnerships with service providers, community agencies and government bodies to get the best outcome for our participants.
- Providing professional information and advice to people with disability, families, staff and managers regarding evidence-based approaches to reduce the impact of challenging behaviour.
What you will bring to the role
- Completed degree qualification (or higher) in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or similar – a must.
- Experience mentoring BSPs or leadership/management experience in the human services sector inc. disability, health, family support or another similar service area.
- An in depth understanding of good clinical practice, the jurisdictional requirements in QLD and the context in which Behaviour Support is provided.
- Knowledge of contemporary practices and philosophies in relation to service provision for people with intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities.
- Experience or knowledge of developing positive behaviour support strategies for people with disability or cognitive impairment.
- Strong administration and computer skills, experienced in MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook.
Additional requirements:
- Right to Work in Australia i.e., Australian/NZ Citizen, Permanent Resident or Visa with permission to work – excludes visas with Temporary Work Rights
- A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) and NDIS Worker’s Screening Check, or the willingness to gain these clearances if successful. We will reimburse you the cost of these clearances on commencement.
- Candidate should meet the criteria to be endorsed as a Proficient Practitioner.
- Willingness to undertake a“Fit2Work” Police Check
- A current and valid Driver’s Licence
