Bella’s Sanctuary is a safe place for women and their children to heal and rebuild after violence, providing independent, medium-term accommodation for up to five families at a time. It aims to assist women to transition into independent housing (either private rentals or public housing), while supporting the women who live there to be close to family, schools and work on the Gold Coast.

About this rewarding role!

By delivering strengths-based case management with a focus on minimal intervention, you will provide comprehensive assistance for clients with low support needs. This includes, but not limited to, offering information and referrals to help clients access local services such as ongoing financial planning, emotional support and referrals for legal assistance. You will also provide additional support by offering information and referrals for potential exit pathways which can involve supporting the search of available private rentals and completing relevant paperwork and applications when necessary.

As a Bella’s Sanctuary Case Worker, you will facilitate a smooth transition for clients exiting our program by coordinating their move into a new property which may involve connecting the client with local services such as RizeUp or Baby Give Back to ensure comprehensive assistance is provided for the client throughout this journey.

Collaboration with referring agencies is crucial in identifying potential tenants who are low risk and have minimal support needs when vacancies become available. We evaluate and accept suitable referrals, providing assistance with the tenancy sign-up process. Furthermore, you will coordinate with our property manager to guarantee clients receive a quality high-standard service, ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and sign-up processes, and uphold proper adherence to the maintenance of our tenancy agreements.

In addition to these responsibilities, you hold accountability for cleaning communal areas and maintaining up-to-date records through our client file system. You will also collaborate with our property team within DVConnect to ensure the sharing of information related to property maintenance and follow-up tasks are addressed appropriately.

What you need to succeed?

  • Proven case management experience in at least one (1) of the following areas: Domestic, family and intimate Partner Violence, sexual violence and abuse, child protection and/or residential support, or mental health.
  • Completed tertiary qualification in Social Work or other appropriate field(s).
  • Well-developed knowledge and analysis of the effects, causes and dynamics of domestic and family violence.
  • Knowledge of Queensland Domestic Violence Legislations, particularly the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012.
  • Exceptional and effective interpersonal, communication, and engagement/consultation skills.
  • Commitment to social justice, DVConnect values and its’ role in delivering services to people impacted by violence and abuse.
  • Positive Notice Blue Card and National Police Check or ability and willingness to obtain.
  • Right to work in Australia with no restrictions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable car – must be willing to occasionally travel when necessary.
  • Attend and work from Bella’s Sanctuary (GoldCoast, QLD) for all shifts.
