Benefits Manager

Introduction

Are you passionate about making a difference in the world through your expertise in employee benefits? The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Benefits Manager to join our the Reward Centre of Expertise (COE) in Geneva.

What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose of the position

As the Benefits Manager, you will lead this specialism at the global level, ensuring our Employee Benefits practices align with the ICRC’s institutional strategy. You will provide expert guidance on our benefits portfolio, manage global risk policies, and lead the evolution of benefits policy and standards.
The Reward Centre of Expertise (COE) drives the Reward (Compensation & Benefits) Strategy and Regional Reward Partnering across the organisation. The Reward COE provides in-depth subject matter expertise and guidance to partners to help better align reward practices in our constantly evolving environment. Responsibilities include driving practical approaches to the definition of policy, delivery, education, compliance and consistency by partnering with both internal and external stakeholders.
The incumbent is responsible to work with HR and Stakeholders across all Employee Benefits components including Pension & Savings,  Healthcare, Accident, Death and Disability, Leave standards, Vendor Management, Governance. In addition, this role interacts with important partners such across HR, Finance, Purchasing, IT, Legal, Senior leadership and external partners
 

Main duties and responsibilities

• Align Employee Benefit practices with ICRC’s strategy.
• Provide deep expertise to stakeholders relating to the Employee Benefits portfolio: Pension & Savings,  Healthcare, Accident, Death and Disability, Time based leaves, Vendor Management, Governance and monitoring.
• Manage Global Risk Policy and associated vendors.
• Own and Lead policy evolution and standard implementation in line with the needs of the ICRC and in conjunction with stakeholders and decision making bodies.
• Partner with Finance for budgeting, accounting, and reporting.
• Recommend and implement policy/process improvements revisions which drive greater simplicity, consistency and which are cost effective.
• Ongoing active Vendor Management and participation in external tenders for global Benefit policies. // Manage vendor relationships and participate in external tenders.
• Monitor regulatory compliance and efficiency of benefits initiatives of ICRC wide Benefits initiatives, policies and procedures.
• Act as an escalation point for complex benefits issues.
• Participate in external reward surveys and anticipate trends in relevant contexts.
• Develop visibility regarding Global Benefit topics using relevant and impactful Reward analytics.
• Build partnerships to enhance stakeholder knowledge of total rewards and to provide relevant, valued subject matter expertise to stakeholders in priority contexts.
• Deepen Stakeholder knowledge of the Total Reward portfolio via education & awareness building for designated countries in partnership with HR.

Desired profile and skills

• University degree in business administration, human resources, or other related disciplines.
• 10+ years of experience in Benefits policy design and implementation, preferably in the humanitarian sector or large international organizations.
• Experience in both commercial and non-profit organizations is ideal.
• Strong HR discipline knowledge and familiarity with HR-related regulations.
• Knowledge of the Swiss HR regulatory environment and social security landscape preferred.
• Excellent communicator, able to connect & influence different groups of stakeholders at all levels of the organization on all Employee Benefit topics.
• Ability to represent the Reward COE and be the main contact for Employee Benefits.
• Logical mindset, quick learner, with strong analytical skills and resilience.Ability to work in a matrix environment.
• Hands-on, Team player with a results-driven approach, able to listen and integrate feedback.
• Fluency in English and French; additional languages are a plus
