About this Role
We are currently seeking a Biodiversity Officer to join our Sustainability and Environment team. As the Biodiversity Officer you will be responsible for:
- Preparation and implementation of operational policies, processes, guidelines, and procedures to support effective native vegetation programs and service delivery
- Facilitating the design, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of revegetation works within Council reserves, roadsides and landfill sites
- Oversee the roadside weed and pest program and other natural resource related programs.
- Providing statutory and strategic environmental planning advice, and conducting planning referral assessments regarding native vegetation impacts and natural resource management across the municipality.
About You
We are seeking an individual with a passion for the natural environment, including a high level of professional knowledge of native vegetation, plant identification, reserve maintenance, and natural resource management. You will have well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, and resolve issues that arise.
You will need
- Tertiary qualifications in Botany, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or a relevant discipline.
- Strong plant identification and environmental assessment skills
- Experience in natural resources management.
- Demonstrated capacity and experience in financial and contract management.
