Biological Field Technician: Birds

CEMML is hiring 2-4 field technicians to assist with various wildlife and vegetation projects at Edwards Air Force Base in spring 2024. These projects include remote game camera trapping for Mohave ground squirrel, a base-wide avian inventory, long-term vegetation and habitat monitoring, and post-road restoration vegetation surveys.

We are seeking one technician whose focus will be conducting point counts across the base, the ideal candidate will have a background in identifying Mojave birds, California waterbirds, and California migratory birds. Specific tasks will vary but will involve potentially long field days in a semi-remote desert setting; lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds; set up, maintenance and removal of field equipment; data collection using Survey123 and FieldMaps; QC of data; communication/coordination with Department of Defense partners and security personnel; and other duties as needed. There may be opportunities for data analysis and report writing depending on candidate experience and/or interest.

The length and start dates of positions will vary from 3-9 months, starting in February or March. Housing is available.
