Analysis, visualization, and reporting of generated data via regular updates to
project manager and/or PI. This will include data visualization and methods
descriptions preparation for presentations and manuscripts. The use of software
such as R, Graphpad Prism, ImageJ, and Qupath is essential. Some programming
ability in Java and/or Python will be necessary to implement open-source software.

 Specialized scientific instrument knowledge, usage, and maintenance of
equipment such as: multiplex microscopy platforms, fluorescence and confocal
microscopes, high-parameter flow cytometers, flow cytometry cell sorters, single-cell
RNA sequencing systems, and other advanced biological measurement platforms.

Processing of cell and tissue samples for analysis via next generation
sequencing, microscopy, FISH, and/or flow cytometry. This includes the use of
aseptic technique, molecular grade sample handling, precision tissue slicing,
immunohistochemistry staining, and flow cytometry or flow sorting preparation.

Responsibility forlarge-scale histology and imaging protocol development and
refinement. Ability to maintain quality control and efficiency working with resultant
large datasets by interfacing with data management staff, project technicians, and
project managers.

 General lab maintenance and upkeep to abide by EH&S and requirements in the
handling of chemical and biohazardous materials.

Provide collaborative support to other UFDI staff, students, and faculty members
with crossover experiments.

Salary range is $57,000 – $71,000

Doctoral degree in biology or a closely related field with 2 years of pertinent experience or a combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience designing and troubleshooting fluorophore-antibody-filterset combinations with microscope parameters for interpretable signal to noise image acquisition.

Experience with tissue-clearing approaches; 3D image acquisition and analysis.

Knowledge of coding environments, cloning repositories, command-line/terminal execution,
Linux OS, building code from source.

Knowledge and education covering the major systems in human physiology and
pathophysiology.

Consistent history of productivity evidenced by contributions to publications, grants, abstracts,
and presentations.
