Overview: Herrmann’s Fish Farm is a family-owned pond management company and fish hatchery located in Robstown, TX. We provide premier and professional pond management services for South Texas. We manage residential and commercial water bodies, offering services such as fish stocking, pond design, vegetation management, and electroshocking population surveys.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct electroshocking population surveys and prepare follow-up reports with recommendations
- Manage aquatic vegetation through chemical treatments and natural processes
- Installation and management of various equipment, including fountains, feeders, aeration systems, windmills, etc.
- Provide consultations and create management plans for water bodies
- Organize and prepare logistics for scheduled jobs
- Perform routine maintenance of farm vehicles and equipment
- Operate various vehicles (with and without trailers) including boats with outboard motors, tractors, ATVs, trucks with 4WD
- Deliver and stock fish in varying water bodies
- Conduct water quality testing
Experience and Requirements:
- High school diploma
- Associates or Bachelors’ degree in biology or related field(s)
- 1-2 years relevant fieldwork experience
- Experience running electrofishing equipment (preferred but not required)
- Ability to identify fish and aquatic plant life commonly observed in South Texas
- Proficiency in trailering, maintenance, and operation of boats w/ outboard motor
- Understanding and familiarity with small motor maintenance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to use 4WD in vehicles
- Ability to work in hot weather conditions; in and around water bodies; some overnight travel
