A Field Crew Supervisor position is available with CEMML. This is a full-time appointment primarily located on Guam, but the employee will be deployable to project areas within the Joint Region Marianas Area of Responsibility (JRM AOR) which includes nearby islands in the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Biosecurity on military lands within JRM AOR is the primary objective for this position and the field team. Guam has a significant military presence, which includes materials and supplies coming from all around the world. Due to the sensitive ecological balance of island ecosystems, CEMML provides support to maintain biosecurity of the island and help prevent or track any unintentional biological introductions. Rapid response and maintaining the island’s ecosystem integrity is of the utmost importance. The Field Crew Supervisor will play a critical role in the support of this mission.
The Field Crew Supervisor will be responsible for directing and leading a crew of at least nine (9) biological technicians in conducting invasive species surveys, control and interdiction, operating toxicant bait stations for brown treesnake control, inspecting/maintaining multispecies exclusionary fencing, conducting QA/QC biosecurity inspections of all incoming and outgoing military cargo during military training exercises, and other duties in compliance with the statement of work. Additionally, the Field Crew Supervisor will be responsible for directing and leading 4 non-student hourly Vegetation Management Technicians in a variety of vegetation management tasks. To accomplish these duties, the Field Crew Supervisor will maintain close liaisons with Navy project sponsors and other DoD personnel.
The Field Crew Supervisor will also be responsible for storing, managing, and analyzing invasive species/biosecurity management and monitoring data, and preparing reports and regulatory documents.
Work location is dependent on the needs of the partner/project/role. In some instances, positions may require staff to be fully in-person. In other instances, hybrid or remote arrangements may be possible.
