The George Miksch Sutton Avian Research Center is accepting applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer of the organization. The CEO will report directly to the Board of Directors and be responsible for leadership and management of the organization, representing the Sutton Center to government agencies, public and media.

The Sutton Center is a nonprofit organization located in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, dedicated to finding cooperative conservation solutions for birds and the natural world through science and education. The CEO will possess the experience and skills required to lead a staff of biologists and associates, manage development and financial operations, and oversee project management while maximizing the facilities and assets of the organization.

A history of business management, strategic planning, knowledge of human resources and an understanding and appreciation of avian species conservation and preservation are desired. The person chosen to lead the Sutton Center will have excellent communication and speaking skills, understand the management of a research operation, and have a successful track record pertaining to fundraising, grants and diversifying the business lines of an organization.

University degrees are desired, including fields of study in business, science, and finance. Emphasis will be on the individual’s business experience and background with evidence presented on projects developed and completed, leadership qualities, success in funding activity, and history of presenting information to financial supporters. Also, the applicant must display the knowledge and energy to bring additional capital to the Sutton Center via developing new projects for diversification of business operations while utilizing the existing available human and capital assets.
