Job description
Banyule Community Health and Merri Health are stand-alone, not for profit organisations with charitable standing, governed by a Board of Directors to deliver on their purposes. Both organisations work across many sites and deliver multiple modalities of care and support in the primary health, aged care, and social care sector. They are both registered community health services in accordance with the Health Services Act and are both companies who are limited by guarantee. The two organisations are expected to merge and become a single entity in 2024/25. It’s an exciting time for the organisations and also for the communities that they serve. A new name and new strategy will be developed once the new entity is formed.
The selection process of the new Board is underway and will be formally announced at the first Board Meeting of the new entity later in 2024. With this in motion, we are now seeking applications from experienced Board Directors to join the Board as it transforms into its next phase of operations. Key and essential skills being sought include:
- Past experience on a public, private and/or community sector Board
- High level conceptual and strategic thinking skills; high degree of financial literacy
- An understanding and passion for community health and or community services
- Previous leadership of a Board and/or Board Committee
- Contemporary Governance education and best practice corporate principles (e.g. AICD course)
In addition to the skills and experience listed above, the new Director will have values aligned to community health principles and an established and credible reputation that will include extensive Board Governance experience. Sophisticated communications skills along with the capacity to provide leadership to support the new Board as it merges will be highly regarded. This represents an outstanding opportunity to contribute to this new organisation as it amalgamates and continues to deliver high quality healthcare to its community.
