Galvanizing Black & Brown Leaders for Land Justice
Through our Board and Committees, Boston Farms connects community members, leaders, and farmers to the restorative work of regenerative agriculture, land stewardship, community development, and business development. We thrive on building a robust network of Black and Brown leaders from across Boston and sectors spanning from agriculture, real estate development, finance, and education to further the work of land justice in our communities.
The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring sound financial management, and adopting appropriate policies that position the organization for success. The Board Commitments include:
- 1-year terms: remote attendance to monthly meetings (2 hours in duration); 1 quarterly in-person meeting.
- 1 in-person retreat at a local farm or on land that inspires a deeper understanding of land stewardship.
- Service on 1 of the board committees.
- Building and strengthening local cross-sector networks that support the mission.
- Engagement in and leading of fundraising efforts to support the financial sustainability of the organization.
