Work Schedule Summary We are seeking great customer service representatives to work part time in the Boise VandalStore. Seasonal, Holiday and Weekend availability is essential. This position is available through the school year and summer.
This position will work 10-15 hours a week. Friday and Saturday availability is a must.

Position Responsibilities

Position Summary The Sales Associate at the Boise VandalStore represents the University of Idaho by delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the overall mission of the store: Investing in Students and the University One Purchase at a Time. This part-time position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about providing an unparalleled shopping experience to customers. The Sales Associate will engage with customers, demonstrate product knowledge, and facilitate transactions while maintaining the visual presentation and cleanliness of the store. They will collaborate with the leadership team to uphold merchandising standards and contribute to inventory control efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude; ability to communicate effectively; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to carry out store opening and closing procedures; ability to work safely. Responsibilities

Job Duty Function Provide excellent customer service by:
Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Engaging and assisting customers in the store to achieve customer success in customer experience.
  • Possessing product knowledge in all area of the store.
  • Meeting with leadership team to review surveys and secret shops in relation to meeting/succeeding the customer success standards.
  • Performing POS transactions and inventory system functions including:
    • Cashiering;
    • Product search and availability;
    • Preforming Return/Exchange per policies set by the management team;
    • Working with the web orders and merchandise inquiries;
    • Preforming discounting per policies set by the management team.
  • Utilizing suggestive selling techniques (up-selling, cross-selling).
  • Demonstrating product knowledge in all areas of the store.
  • Utilizing excellent phone skills (answering, orders, and problem solving).

Job Duty Function Provide support in merchandising by:
Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Consistently facing, filling, displaying and organizing merchandise throughout the store.
  • Following merchandising plan from leadership team.
  • Ensuring product is priced for customer ease and sized as necessary.
  • Providing fulfillment – ability to pick and ship on-line orders.
  • Providing basic understanding of inventory and assist in receiving and with transfers.

  • Establishing, maintaining an organized, professional, and welcoming atmosphere of the sales floor, register area, outside common and back-end areas;
    • Sweeping/mopping/vacuuming/dusting;
    • Gathering and removing trash and recycling;
    • Cleaning restrooms, break room, office space, storage and receiving areas.
  • Communicating need to reorder supplies to back ops or leadership.

Position Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Experience in customer-facing roles such as retail, hospitality, or food service.
  • Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience with customer service.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately; contribute to overall team success.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills; Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate sales and inventory records.
  • Serve and communicate effectively, both verbal (in person and via telephone) and in writing, with diverse personalities and cultures.
  • Ability to use a computer and current software.
  • Ability to be punctual and reliable.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to bend & stoop.
  • Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move up to 50 pounds.
  • Willing and able to work evenings, weekends and special events.
