About the Opportunity The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Division of Media Properties seeks a Broadcast Engineer to join our team. The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for assisting the engineering team with installation, operation, and maintenance of all WUFT/WRUF broadcast equipment including but not limited to RF systems in accordance with federal, state, local, and university rules and regulations at all transmitter sites as well as Weimer Hall. They should understand analog, digital, and IP-based systems and be able to integrate new technology and upgrades into the existing infrastructure as technology advances. The Broadcast Engineer is part of the Technology Advancement Group (TAG) and will support technical and engineering needs with the team managing both the television and radio stations infrastructure and technology. The engineer will report to the Assistant Director of Engineering and Facilities. Key Position Functions
About the College of Journalism and Communications The College of Journalism and Communications is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC) and is home to four departments – Advertising, Journalism, Public Relations, and Media Production, Management, and Technology (MPMT). The TAG group consists of the IT and Engineering Department. TAG researches, designs, tests, implements, and maintains all technology in Weimer Hall with the exception of classrooms, which is handled by the University. They will provide you with the equipment you need and can help with any IT or broadcast engineering issue. Expected Salary: |
$50,000 – $65,000; commensurate with experience |
Minimum Requirements: |
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
