Bromley Council is looking for a Locum Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join the Quality Improvement Service within Children’s Social Care. This specialist role includes both Independent Reviewing Officer and Child Protection Chair duties.Key Responsibilities:
?? Chairing Looked After Reviews & Child Protection ConferencesLead Looked After Reviews to assess children’s welfare and progress toward permanence.
Chair Initial & Review Child Protection Conferences, ensuring timely and effective safeguarding interventions.
?? Quality Assurance & Challenge RoleOversee cases across Children’s Social Care, ensuring good practice and adherence to London Child Protection Procedures & the IRO Handbook.
Identify and challenge issues that may impact a child’s welfare or delay permanence.
Act as a critical friend to social workers and managers, advocating for best outcomes for children.
?? Caseload & ImpactManage a caseload of 55-60 Looked After Children.
Contribute to Bromley’s ongoing service improvement & quality assurance framework.
About You:
? Qualified Social Worker (Social Work England registered).
? Extensive experience in Looked After Children (CLA), Safeguarding & Child Protection.
? Strong ability to challenge poor practice and advocate for children’s needs.
? Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
? Experience in chairing reviews/conferences and quality assurance work.Why Join Us?
