About the Role
This successful applicant will need to be available to work weekend and afternoon / evening shifts as needed.
This role will be based in Brunswick Heads in the Byron Shire.
The Community Village Activities Worker will focus on engaging residents and broader community, facilitating pro-social activities. This will also include identifying activities and working with the community from conception to implementation.
Responsibilities include:
- Engage residents in the community village and wider community to develop and establish a strong rapport and trust
- Identify issues and challenges faced by residents as a result of recent floods
- Collaborate closely with residents to identify activities and events which will lift their resilience and aid recovery
- Develop and implement an action plan in partnership with Community and to deliver activities within budget
- Work with key stakeholders to provide high quality service and supports within the community
About you
- Relevant qualification and in Social Services/Community Development and/or relevant work experience (4 years) working with young people
- Strong interpersonal skills that engage people from traumatised backgrounds
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting community members after recent floods particularly in Regional areas
- Knowledge of mainstream services within the community (arts, sports and business)
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain, positive, honest and productive relationships with young people and their families
- Strong commitment to services driven to service the needs of impacted community members
