Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Budget Analyst to join Finance Business Solutions, Chancellery Division.

The Budget Analyst contributes to the preparation of budgets and financial management documentation across various business units and projects within their client portfolio. This role encompasses budgeting, forecasting, reporting, monitoring and analysis of accounts, reconciliations and journal entries. This position collaborates with staff within the Finance Department to provide timely, accurate and high-quality advice to academic and professional staff and management, enabling them to make informed financial and resource decisions.

What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a degree in a related discipline with relevant work experience in financial administration.
  • Professional membership of The Australian Society of CPA, Institute of Chartered Accountants or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the management of financial accounts, budgets and forecasts and maintenance of accurate financial statements and records.  
  • Demonstrated ability to provide accurate advice on financial and other data in a clear and concise manner to a variety of stakeholders. 
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to gather and integrate information from a number of sources to enable accurate and strategic decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a culture that is committed to the continuous improvement and innovation of processes and services. 
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to quickly establish rapport and manage collaborative working relationships, engage with a diverse client group and work effectively in a high performing team. 
  • Advanced digital literacy skills, including demonstrated ability to successfully use spreadsheets and accounting systems including Oracle financials or similar.
