Butterfly Foundation is Australia’s national charity for eating disorders and body image issues, providing a voice for those affected and the people who care for them. Eating disorders are severe and complex mental illnesses with physical complications, and the medical, psychological, physical and social consequences can be long term and for many, life threatening.

Butterfly advocates for improved services from government, health and mental health organisations, and the eating disorder sector, raising awareness in the media and via community engagement. Butterfly runs Australia’s only national Eating Disorders Helpline, seven days a week; evidence-based clinical treatment and support programs; and delivers prevention initiatives in schools and the community to combat negative body image issues.

About the Role

The Business Analyst will work with management and stakeholders to define their business requirements for existing and upcoming projects and translate these into solutions. This will be achieved through identifying, analysing and facilitating improvements to existing systems and processes, scoping out new requirements and future planning.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Meeting with user groups to gather and analyse end user requirements.
  • Analysing workflows to create process maps and isolate areas of potential improvement.
  • Developing functional specifications that design and document desired outcome of system enhancement/development.
  • Producing technical specifications to communicate user requirements in technical terms to analyst programmers/project team.
  • Coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the overall efficiency, functionality, and user friendliness of system enhancement/development.
  • Preparing material and providing training and assistance to end-users following implementation.
  • Working as a crucial component of a project team responsible for enhancing existing systems or developing new systems.
  • Monitoring solutions for continuous improvement.

Essential:

  • 3 + years’ experience as a Business Analyst
  • Experience with mapping and analysing business processes, the ability to identify gaps and propose solutions
  • Excellent ability to analyse, isolate and interpret business needs and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Document functional and non-functional requirements
  • The ability to communication effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, influencing and guiding decisions with management
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of the systems/software development life cycle.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Develop content for business consumption, translating technical solutions/features in a simple and effective manner that is suitable for wider business consumption communicating future system requirements to software developers and assisting in system design.
