The Opportunity

  • Full-time (35 hours week) , fixed term contract to October 2025
  • $106,351 – $133,948 + 17% super + leave loading
  • Hybrid/Flexible working arrangements

The UNSW Business Development & Commercialisation team works at the cutting-edge of research commercialisation to bridge gaps and drive successful innovation. Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager, this is an opportunity for a professional with experience in research, technology commercialisation and/or technical sales to provide intelligent support to a business development team and develop a solid foundation in building a career in research commercialisation. Key areas of responsibility include:

  • IP and Commercialisation deals
  • Research Engagement
  • Technology Marketing and Partner Identification
  • General administration 

The Organisation

The Business Development & Commercialisation team is focused on developing and closing technology and R&D related business deals, including research partnerships (contract, collaborative, consulting) and IP commercialisation (licenses, spinouts/start-ups, Intellectual Property), based on UNSW knowledge and capability.

About the successful applicant:

You have a relevant tertiary qualification, as well as:

Level 7

  • Knowledge and experience in identification and management of new technology, IP and commercialisation
  • Experience in marketing and promoting new technologies
  • Relevant networks and experience in engaging with industry and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, including setting own workflow and priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Computer literate with strong experience in Microsoft Office applications and databases (e.g., IP Management and CRM)
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

Level 8 (in addition to level 7)

  • Structuring and delivering IP/Commercialisation engagements and transactions
  • Structuring and delivering research engagements and transactions
  • Identifying and securing patent protection
  • Extensive relevant networks and experience in engaging with industry and external stakeholders
  • Managing a range of stakeholders to deliver outcomes
