  1. Background information

World Vision Ukraine Crisis Response (WVUCR) has been operating in Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Romania since February 2022. WVUCR provides life-saving in-kind and cash assistance, protection, livelihoods, and partner capacity strengthening to prepare and respond to the humanitarian context to refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and local host communities impacted by the ongoing Ukraine Crisis.

World Vision seeks a Consultant Business Development Coordinator for the Ukraine Crisis Response (UCR), based in Kyiv Ukraine.

In response to the current crisis, WV provides gender-sensitive, coordinated assistance to limit the loss of life and mitigate human suffering in affected communities.

To achieve this goal, the Ukraine Crisis Response (UCR) implements Livelihood and Early Recovery, Child Protection and MHPSS, cash and NFI programming.

  1. Purpose of the Service

The Consultant will provide positioning expertise by working with WV UCR GAM Manager and colleagues, Support Offices and partner organizations in building strategic relationships among each other as well as with institutional donors leading in exploring and accessing new avenues for funding for financial sustainability of WV’s programme in Ukraine and Moldova. Further, H/S will lead the writing and coordination of the development of high-quality funding proposals and other key documents to institutional donors. He/She will be involved in obtaining and sharing information with the technical team and other relevant departments within the Field and respective Support Offices to ensure sound, strategic and successful grant applications.

The Business Development Coordinator will report directly to the WV UCR Grant Acquisition and Management Manager.

– Support to Donor Relationship Building Intel Gathering and Analysis. The incumbent h/s will build up from up-to-date UCR donors’ mapping/engagement, GAM business plan, and external engagements to date.

– Engage with targeted donors for positioning and early intelligence.

2. Proposal design for acquisition of Grants and PNSF

• Lead new proposal writing to institutional donors in accordance with WV common standards for grants and acquisition and tools (Grant Risk Assessment, Go No-Go process, Proposal Development plan, call for proposal checklist, project development monitoring tool, etc.).

• When required, identify appropriate/competitive teaming arrangements (consortiums, multi-country projects…) and facilitate negotiations with local and international partners and respective Support Offices.

• Manage coordination, communication, and inputs from potential subs and consortium members during consortia establishment for quality and participatory proposal development.

Ensure best practices are applied and high-quality systems and processes for grant acquisition are maintained, as well as systems for Acquisition Knowledge Management to meet organizational needs and standards. Conduct Lessons learned of proposal submission processes as directed by the GAM Manager.

  1. Requirements and Criteria’s
  2. Professional Experience (40%)
  • At least 5 years of experience in Strategic Fundraising, strategic Grant Acquisition and Management in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to identify trends and funding opportunities.
  • Knowledge of proposal and budget requirements and regulations of major donors including the FCDO, ECHO, BHA/USAID, GAC, DEC, EU, GIZ, UN (WFP/OCHA) agencies and other government relief and development institutions.
  • Must have experience in successful grant writing of major donors.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian codes, minimum standards, principles, and practice.
  • Experienced in liaising, partnering and secure fundings from the private sector is a strong asset. Familiarity with technical frameworks for Livelihood and Economic recovery, Child Protection, Protection and gender equality development aids that aim to strengthen women’s and youth’s leadership and participation, increasing community resilience in a fragile context.
  • Experience in providing advisory/mentoring and coaching diverse teams of professionals.
  • Ability to work with a reasonably level of comfort in high tension and high security risk situations

B. Required Education, training, license, registration, and Certification (30%)

  • University degree or equivalent in relevant fields of study such as International Development, Political Relations, Economics, Sociology, or another related field.
  • Strategic planning and business plan development skills.
  • Strong inter-personal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to identify trends and funding opportunities.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications (30%)

  • Prior experience in the region and knowledge of local context
  • Prior experience in World Vision in a fragile environment
  • Knowledge of local language is a plus

Notes related to World Vision UCR Child Protection Policy:
