Brighton & Hove Energy Services Co-operative Ltd (BHESCo) is a leading
community energy organisation, an ambitious and growing social enterprise that prioritises
social and environmental impact. Our mission is to accelerate the uptake of renewable energy
and energy efficiency interventions in the built environment by designing, financing and
developing low-carbon energy systems on behalf of our customers.

BHESCo’s innovative approach, which involves collaboration with leading industry and technology
partners, along with academics focused on fuel poverty alleviation and energy justice.

We provide independent expertise to clients who wish to reduce their carbon footprint and cut
their energy costs with thermally efficient buildings and clean, affordable, community-owned
energy generation. In 8 years BHESCo has completed 59 projects that will collectively reduce
CO2 emissions by over 7,500 tonnes during their lifetime and provide clients with financial
savings of £1.7m. Our client base is broad: individuals, landlords, managing agents, small and
medium sized enterprises, schools and local authorities.

The Role

The Business Development manager is responsible for delivering the business targets established
in BHESCo’s strategic Growth Plan. This individual is a generalist, with an aptitude for the
science behind the work BHESCo does, as well as a robust background in finance and economics.
Along with the CEO, the business development manager has the important role of achieving the
annual targets for each of the pillars of growth outlined in our business strategy.

The Business Development manager, along with the CEO, is the outward face of BHESCo,
communicating clearly and informatively about our goal to safeguard the planet for the benefit
of society while demonstrating the positive impact of our work. The Business Development
manager protects the integrity of the BHESCo brand and our reputation with customers, suppliers
and the general public, while consistently working to increase our customer base.

An important part of this role is preparing tenders and writing bids for projects. These will
be through government procurement channels or enquiries received.
