Business Development Lead (Resource Mobilization) Summary

The Business Development Lead (s/he) is responsible for developing and submitting funding proposals to major institutional donors and private charity funds / private philanthropies in order to mobilize resources for Faith to Action Network’s global financial sustainability. The Business Development Lead will coordinate with the Regional Director Europe on donor intelligence, pipeline management, partner outreach, risk mapping and keeping the CRM system up-to-date.

Duties and Responsibilities

Monitoring & Intelligence Gathering:

  • Track funding opportunities with USA, UK, and Australia-based donor agencies.
  • Keep informed about donor policies, strategy developments, and liaise with donor officials and INGO partners.
  • Maintain and update the funding pipeline, providing regular updates to the Regional Director Europe.
  • Identify funding opportunities and carry out competitive analysis.

Partnership Building:

  • Identify potential project partners and stakeholders to form competitive consortia.
  • Define partner roles, negotiate partnerships, and lead the development of teaming agreements in coordination with the Regional Director Europe.

Proposal Development:

  • Lead and manage the proposal writing and editing process to ensure high quality, timely, and competitive submissions.
  • Ensure necessary groundwork for proposal development, assemble bid development teams, and provide effective bid coordination and project management.
  • Develop clear flow charts and processes, clarifying roles and responsibilities in program design and proposal writing efforts.
  • Analyze funding guidelines, manage proposal teams, and ensure proposals are compliant and competitive.
  • Facilitate resource mobilization bid decisions and plan proposal development processes.
  • Develop project theories of change, log frames, strategies, and budgets in collaboration with relevant team members.
  • Undertake quality assurance of donor proposals to ensure high-quality, competitive submissions.
  • Engage consultants and technical specialists as needed.

External Relations and Donor Engagement:

  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with new and existing donors, partners, and faith actors.
  • Support the development of a donor-facing communications strategy to increase Faith to Action Network’s visibility.
  • Prepare resource mobilization plans, including potential affiliates, technical priorities, focuses, and funding targets.
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining updated capacity statements, factsheets, brochures, and donor-facing visibility materials.

Academic Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Superior proposal writing skills with proven success in business development and fundraising
  • 8+ years demonstrated experience in resource mobilization with various bilateral and international donors and organizations including non-traditional donors.
  • Strong strategic, project implementation, M& E, Program management skills and experience
  • Extensive experience working at international level and with a variety of international funding agencies.
  • Strong partnership-building and donor relationship skills.
  • Expertise in rights-based approaches, gender-transformative frameworks, and advocacy.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English.
  • Proficiency in budget development.
  • Experience in multicultural, multilingual, and multidisciplinary environments.
  • Knowledge of American and/or British cultures, work ethics and Exposure to different religions is important to develop context-relevant programmes.
  • Proactive, able to work with minimal supervision, and experienced in start-up environments.
