UNICEF Lebanon is looking for a Business Establishment and Sustainability Consultant to advise on the selection of project, develop the legal process framework for the business registration, support the business establishment and registration, support the business growth and sustainability through the provision of direct coaching for the youth over 6 months, link businesses to clusters and potential private sector supporters.

The combined impact of following crises is forcing youth in Lebanon from all backgrounds to take on responsibilities beyond their ages, with detrimental impacts on their mental health and on access to opportunities. Main trends are represented by the increase in drop out of education, increase in rate of youth out of learning and employment, increase in informal employment, to generate whatever income that contribute to at least their and their families’ basic needs out of any career development.
The UNICEF adolescents and youth development program in Lebanon aims at empowering youth and enable their personal, economic, and social development within a supportive environment. It provides them access to career development, foundational and transferrable skills building through different learning programs and pathways. It facilitates their access to income generating opportunities by accessing workplace learning opportunities, post training support services, referral to employment, entrepreneurship training and startups.
With the funding support from GenU, UNICEF Lebanon aims to support youth accessing and succeeding in agri-preneurship by establishing at least 6 youth group businesses in three governorates in Lebanon (2 project per governorate) in the Agrifood sector. Youth trained on selected occupations will be referred to benefit from the social entrepreneurship training to learn how to grow and sustain a business, supported by the technical coaches and staff they will design their agrifood project selected and based on the local market needs and, on the evaluation, buy the technical staff and experts they will be supported to initiate the business. In addition to the technical training and support through coaching and mentorship programs, UNICEF will support seed-funding and support the establishment of the projects.
Within this framework, UNICEF is looking for a consultant to support the business selection, establishment, and coaching process.
Under the supervision and in direct coordination with the Adolescent Development Officer (Skills Building), the consultant is supposed to advise on the selection of project, develop the legal process framework for the business registration, support the business establishment and registration, support the business growth and sustainability through the provision of direct coaching for the youth over 6 months, link businesses to clusters and potential private sector supporters.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Bachelor’s degree in socio-economic development, business development and entrepreneurship.
- At least 5 years of work experience in business development, training and coaching in business development, engagement with the private sector, entrepreneurship.
- Proven theoretical and practical experience in business establishment, business registration and development.
- Tools development
- Business direct coaching
- Advocacy and engagement with the private sector
- Networking
- Knowledge and experience in training manuals ‘development, provision of trainings and coaching.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
UNICEF does not charge a processing fee at any stage of its recruitment, selection, and hiring processes (i.e., application stage, interview stage, validation stage, or appointment and training). UNICEF will not ask for applicants’ bank account information.
