A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Plain International Australia’s Organisational Development & Culture (OD&C) team. This is a true Business Partner / Advisor role, giving you the opportunity to work closely with all aspects of the organisation to ensure all staff, leaders and volunteers are supported to achieve our objectives and uphold PIA’s values.

This role is all things HR. Reporting to the Associate Director, OD&C, this position is the first point of contact for all matters relating to human resources within Plan International Australia. The team is also embarking on exciting projects relating to diversity, equality and inclusion, leadership support and development, all aligning with the organisation’s purpose to uphold the rights and equality for youth around the world. And you get to be a part of that!

Who are we?

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.
We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years, and are now active in more than 80 countries.

What’s it really like

Your days in the PIA, OD&C team will be varied – no day will be quite the same, but throughout your time, we will see you performing these duties:

  • Employee life cycle; from recruitment, onboarding & induction, as well as supporting people leaders in reviews, development and offboarding.
  • Overseeing and maintaining operational HR aspects such as compliance, HR administration, data management, liaising with payroll and reporting.
  • Supporting all aspects of Organisational Development, implementing initiatives in line with our purpose, values and strategy.
  • Support all Learning & Development initiatives, facilitating training and providing ongoing support to employees on their L&D journey.
  • Act as PIA’s Safety Representative in reported OHS incidents, coordinating PIA’s OHS Committee and Employee Assistance Program and training of Fire Wardens, First Aiders and Mental Health First Aiders.

Our office is in Southbank. We are looking for someone who can undertake some of their work here, and some of their work at home.
We work hard, but we are always flexible and supportive, offering inclusive leave. We have weekly team meetings, and regular organisation-wide catch ups. From salary packaging to an Employee Assistance Program to support your wellbeing, we are a people-first workplace.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who holds relevant qualifications in Human Resources and/or previous experience in a HR Generalist role. Alongside this, you’ll have strong industry and award knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the importance of compliance and safeguarding practices, along with the ability to implement and manage various systems and processes successfully.

The core skills we are looking for are:

  • Strong attention to detail, judgement and critical thinking skills, ability to carefully map out complex issues.
  • Strong collaboration and supportive teamwork
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills, actively listening to colleagues and passing on relevant information accurately and appropriately.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and business partnerships.
  • Strong computer literacy, experience in HRIS and database management
  • Demonstrated passion, energy, and drive towards supporting people within the organisation and upholding organisational values, including PIA’s commitment to social impact, feminism and inclusivity.
