ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies, and working with communities in more than 100 countries to improve nutrition and build resilience. To support this mission, WFP Fleet Centre in Dubai, UAE, is mandated to centrally manage WFP’s light and armoured vehicle fleet leasing, fleet management and systems support, insurance cover, vehicle disposal, and advanced driver training services, to enable effective, safe, and efficient fleets in all WFP offices globally.
JOB PURPOSE
The job holder will be accountable for testing, installing and validating VTS devices at Fleet Center and field locations, providing technical support during installation and troubleshooting, testing, and verifying device functionality, contributing to installation guideline reviews, compiling validation reports, monitoring non-transmitting devices, offering remote assistance, updating VTS and vehicle data, and providing on-site technical support and training.

Salary: Starting from AED 13,295.90 per month (inclusive of pension), plus medical insurance and other entitlements.
Duration of Employment: 12 months with possibility of extension
This position is based in the WFP Fleet Centre, Dubai, reporting to the Fleet Systems & Fleet Optimization Officer under the Fleet Management Unit.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be VTS technician and will be accountable for the following duties:
Fleet Systems Support
- Install vehicle tracking system devices (VTS) at Fleet Center and field locations in accordance with standard installation guidelines of the supplier.
- Support workshop technicians during installation and validation processes as a specialized VTS technician, including troubleshooting technical issues.
- Test and verify newly received VTS devices to ensure hardware functionality and completeness. Promptly report defective devices and follow up on replacements or corrective actions with the supplier as necessary.
- Monitor non-transmitting VTS devices and collaborate with country office focal points and suppliers to resolve issues. This includes extracting non-transmitting device lists from the VTS management database, notifying country office focal persons for investigation and resolution, and providing support for timely issue rectification. Compile and report progress regularly.
- Provide remote VTS device installation and troubleshooting assistance to country office focal persons. Ensure validation is conducted for all new installations and devices removed from other vehicles.
- Travel to country offices to provide technical support, training, and installation.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor related to Fleet Systems.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. (College or University diploma in Auto electric or electronics, Technology or Engineering) desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum three years’ experience in installing and maintaining vehicle tracking system devices (VTS).
- Strong understanding of hardware functionality, components and experience in testing and verifying VTS devices.
- Ability to understand WFP business and field operational objectives.
Requirements:
- Good understanding of electrical systems, automotive wiring, and automotive electronics
- Solution-oriented customer service management, and planning skills.
- Demonstrates willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
- Willingness to travel to country offices to provide technical support, training, and installation services.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of VTS installation guidelines by reading electrical and electronic wiring diagrams.
- Basic skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to use corporate communication platforms such as Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Teams, adeptly to exchange information, schedule meetings, and engage in discussions.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written in English language. Other UN languages would be an asset.
