The role will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Assistant (EA) to facilitate and support the Insurance, Pensions and Investments strategy, including ensuring we provide an outstanding service to our customers.As the BSM, you’ll work in partnership with the EA to enable the smooth running of the Executive Office. You’ll be responsible for responding on behalf of COO on a various issues, effectively managing the collation of inputs across the team and facilitating timely and robust decision making to drive the delivery of strategic outputs. In turn, you’ll develop strong partner management across a varied group, working closely with a variety of IP&I teams and partners to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.This role provides an excellent opportunity to be right at the heart of the future of our business. - Assist the IP&I COO and EA in the day-to-day management of their role, ensuring record keeping of the office is kept to a high standard and align to the Executive Handbook, Group policies and standards.
- In conjunction with the PA and EA, coordinate the efficient day-to-day operations in line with team needs and priorities, supporting with the effective running and alignment of IP&I COO team meetings and calls, regular colleague calls including briefings and shaping of relevant content and material.
- Screen incoming information and communications sent to the IP&I COO, responding, rerouting and prioritising as appropriate.
- Ensure that the IP&I COO is suitably briefed for all committees, boards and regulatory sessions in a timely manner, working with the leadership teams where required to ensure additional information is on hand.
- Work with the broader leadership team to develop and implement plans specific to the IP&I COO, considering the wider business, customer, colleague, risk, governance and regulatory context.
- Form relationships with our Business Partners such as Finance, Risk, Audit and People, to provide high quality support and ensure that budget targets, risk, compliance and agreed service level standards are met.
- Undertake specific research on a wide range of subject matters, recommending solutions/actions where appropriate.

You’ll support the COO across a broad remit, ensuring that they are effectively driving their accountabilities, handling risk and oversight, prioritising their time appropriately and ensuring they are adequately prepared in advance of key meetings and committees.
- Experience of developing and writing high quality papers for senior audiences such as Board or committee papers.
- Second to none organisation and prioritisation skills with an ability to react quickly to new demands and balance challenging priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to work at pace in a high-pressure environment while using your judgement to make fast, data driven decisions.
- Strong collaborator who can ‘join the dots’ across multiple deliverables, understanding dependencies.
