Summary

The Center for Comparative Medicine provides for the care, health and well-being of all research animals used in the pursuit of scientific achievement and excellence at Baylor College of Medicine. CCM provides the highest quality veterinary and animal care and acts as a resource for the faculty on veterinary and scientific issues relating to the use of laboratory animals.  This position provides routine animal cage wash and handling for a diverse group of small research animals according to established procedures and standards.

Job Duties

  • Sanitizes, maintains, and conducts routine repairs to animal caging and materials.
  • Maintains the cage wash and animal holding facilities in accordance with standard operating procedure and individual facility requirements.
  • Reviews, understands, and complies with all relevant standard operation procedures and established quality assurance standards pertaining to the specific work or task area. 
  • Operates cage washers, autoclaves, and pallets jack equipment.
  • Uses supplies in accordance with established safety guidelines.
  • Performs general housekeeping in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Assists with the receipt of, stocking, and maintenance of supply inventories.
  • Prepares and submits required written records, charts, logs, and inventory lists.
  • Maintains bulk feed and bedding supplies, as required.
  • Disposes of waste materials in accordance with established standard operating and safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • No experience required.
