Background
forumZFD supports people involved in violent conflicts on the path to peace and strives to help overcome war and violence. We are currently working with peace consultants in Germany, as well as twelve other countries in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. Our Academy for Conflict Transformation offers a learning space for professional, international peace work. Through dialogue events, educational work and campaigns, we actively advocate civil peace policy. ForumZFD thereby follows a systemic approach to conflict transformation that views conflict and its progression as a complex system and deals with its structural causes, as well as the actions, the behavior and the attitudes of the involved parties.
forumZFD is recognized by the German federal government as a member of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) consortium. Our work is financed through public and private grants, donations and membership fees.
Consultancy objectives and deliverables:
forumZFD aims to strengthen advocacy as a part of its peacebuilding programmes. Therefore, we aim to increase capacities and the organizational needs to create a clear framework for this evolving area of engagement.
Together with its partners, forumZFD already conducts projects and activities related to advocacy in various programmes and contexts. Based on these experiences, the contractor shall
- provide a documentation of best practices and lessons learned in the area of advocacy for selected forumZFD programmes
- conduct two internal workshops to clarify roles, processes and strategies for advocacy at forumZFD
- develop a concept for advocacy at forumZFD describing goals, methods, roles, competencies and processes.
Time frame of the assignment:
The consultancy shall be carried out from August to December 2024. Exact workshop dates and deadlines will be agreed upon between forumZFD and the contractor.
We expect 10 to 15 days for the contract.
Profile and eligibility criteria of the consultant/ trainer
- Several years of professional experience in the field of peacebuilding and advocacy, acquired through working in an INGO environment with decentralized structures (office in various countries, shared advocacy responsibilities between head office and country offices etc.)
- Experience in consulting on organizational development
- Experience in developing strategies, concepts or a toolkit for peacebuilding, advocacy or related areas of works
- Language skills: professional fluency in English
