Call for applications round 1 – appointment as recognised or distinguished university teacher according to the model for acquisition of educational qualification at Umeå University (Faculty of xxxxx)

In 2013 Umeå University introduced a model for acquisition of educational qualification. The aim of the model is to contribute to continuous quality improvement in education by stimulating teachers to develop high educational competence and to stimulate departments to create environments that promote educational development.

The model has two levels: recognised university teacher and distinguished university teacher. Applications for distinguished university teacher may only be submitted by teachers who have previously been appointed recognised university teacher.

There are two calls for applications per year and the last day to apply is usually in the middle of February and the middle of September. The next deadline for application is February 15, 2024.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible, one must hold a position as a teacher at Umeå University and have:

• at least 5 years of teaching experience in higher education, equivalent to at least 2 years of full-time teaching
• courses in higher education pedagogy equivalent to at least 10 weeks or 15 hp.

The Head of department certifies the applicant’s eligibility regarding employment and teaching experience. External experts assess/the external expert assesses eligibility regarding courses in higher education pedagogy.

Application

The application should consist of:

• a main text including appendices
• a pedagogical CV including list of courses in higher education pedagogy
• a statement from the head of department regarding eligibility.

Courses in higher education pedagogy must be included in the pedagogical CV and should be verified with course certificates or other appendices where the contents and scope of the courses are clearly stated.

Only complete applications will be sent for assessment by external experts.
