The Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was jointly established by CAS, the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and the Chinese University of Hong Kong in February 2006. With the goal of becoming a world-class industrial research institute, SIAT is committed to developing a new type of research institution that meets international academic standards and integrates with the industries of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Its mission is to enhance the independent innovation capabilities of the manufacturing, healthcare, and modern service sectors within the region, to foster the creation of new industries with proprietary intellectual property, and to lead the way in establishing itself as an internationally leading research institution.

Leading Academic Talents

● Strategic Leadership and Vision: Demonstrates the ability to develop and implement long-term strategies, while also showing strong leadership skills in motivating and guiding high-performing teams.

● Academic Impact and Intellectual Depth: Recognized for significant influence in global academic circles, supported by a solid theoretical foundation and broad scientific knowledge.

● Innovative Insight and Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Possesses forward-thinking ability to anticipate trends and future developments, with proven expertise in fostering innovation through interdisciplinary collaboration.

 

Young Leading Talents

● Doctoral degree, preferably under the age of 40, with demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, a strong academic commitment, and a track record of innovative thinking.

● Significant academic influence within the field, with proven capacity to lead and innovate in a specific area, or clear potential to emerge as a thought leader in the academic community.

● Minimum of 36 months of continuous overseas experience in a formal teaching or research position. Candidates with exceptional achievements may be considered with a flexible work experience requirement.

 

Exceptional Young Talents

● Seeking Ph.D. holders under 35 with strong research backgrounds and 3 years post-graduation experience. 

● Proven achievements in high-impact publications and competitive grants. 

● Must show potential for academic or tech leadership, with a proactive and innovative research mindset. R&D experience preferred.

Online: December 15, 2024, in Shenzhen.

 

SIAT will review applications and invite qualified candidates. Invited scholars of domestic events will receive support for round-trip travel and accommodation. More information will be released later.

About SIAT: 

The Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) was jointly established by CAS, the Shenzhen municipal government and the Chinese University of Hong Kong in February 2006. SIAT aims to enhance the innovative capacity of the equipment manufacturing and service industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong region, promote the development of emerging industries possessing their own proprietary intellectual property, and become a world-class industrial research institute.

SIAT focuses on the multi-disciplinary integration development of Information Technology and Biotechnology. It mainly includes 8 sub-institutes(57 research centers): Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Integration Technology (SIAIT); Institute of Biomedical and Health Engineering (IBHE); Institute of Advanced Computing and Digital Engineering (IACDE); Institute of Biomedicine and Biotechnology (IBB); Institute of Brian Cognition and Brian Disease (IBCBD); Institute of Synthetic Biology; Institute of Advanced Electronic Materials (IAEM); Institute of Technology for Carbon Neutrality (ITCN). It is also home to 11 national innovation labs and 79 key labs and platforms at the provincial and municipal level.

SIAT has staff over 2300, including 156 full-time national talents，77 faculty members are among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University, as well as more than 2799 postgraduate students.

Oriented to be the industrial research institute, SIAT makes efforts to the scientific and technological transforming and has incubated 1853 companies (365 shareholding) in the fields of emerging industries such as low-cost health care, service robots, electric vehicles, cloud computing, digital cities, nano-medicine, new energy and new materials.

SIAT established global partnership across 54 countries and districts, on nearly 500 programs in 98 institutions including MIT, Stanford University, UCL, UBC, UCLA, EPFL, HU Berlin etc. 45.2% of SIAT annual publications are resulted from international collaboration.

SIAT is already a leading research institute in Southern China and innovative reforming model in China, as is reflected by the consistency with our high-quality papers and contribution to industries. However, we still have a long way to go for our ultimate goal as the top-tier ‘ E(Engineering) – T(Technology) – S(Science)’ institute around the world.
