Offer Description

The scholarship holder will be involved in characterising the participants in the study, applying the Data Collection Instrument and processing the data statistically, collecting specimens for biological and environmental analysis, processing and monitoring, drawing up and managing a database and analysing it statistically, and writing scientific articles.

The grant will have a duration of 3 months (with possibility of renewal UP TO 24 months). The fellow holder will benefitfrom a grant of 1.199,64 € as per the table of remuneration of FCT, I.P. The fellow will also benefit frompersonal accident insurance, and if not included in any social security protocol, may adhere to the Portuguese Social Security through the Seguro Social Voluntário (Voluntary Social Security), in the terms present in the Portuguese Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social. The monthly grant will be paid by bank transfer.

 

Work plan:

1) Characterization of study participants;

2) Application of Instrument of Data Collection and statistical data processing;

3) Collection of specimens for analysis, processing and biological and environmental monitoring;

4) Preparation and management of a database and respective statistical analysis;

5) Preparation of scientific articles.

  • Coordinate with local authorities to publicize the collection in the community.

    Skills/Qualifications

    Individuals with a Master’s degree in the area of Health may apply for this scholarship. A degree in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Analyses and Public Health or Nursing is required.

    Specific Requirements

    The following factors will be favoured when assessing candidates:

    Experience in collecting and processing data and biological specimens; 

    Solid knowledge of quantitative methodologies in database management and statistical data analysis (SPSS and Excel);  

    Publications in international journals with scientific arbitration and communications at conferences in the scientific area of this call.

    The amount of the grant corresponds to € 1.199,64 €, according to the table of values of the grants awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country.

    Eligibility criteria

    Individuals with a Master’s degree in the area of Health may apply for this scholarship. A degree in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Analyses and Public Health or Nursing is required.

    The following factors will be favoured when assessing candidates: Experience in collecting and processing data and biological specimens;

    The candidate should have minimum linguistic skills in Portuguese and Spanish, as this will be the area where the project will be carried out, since it will be necessary to collect information from the community.
    The candidate should have a good knowledge in English, with special emphasis on technical and scientific terminology for the dissemination of the project’s results.

    Selection process

     

    The final classification will be awarded on a scale of 0 to 20 and will correspond to the sum of the
    curricular assessment (CA) criteria described above and the interview (I).

    The final grade will be rounded up to the nearest tenth.

    The final classification will be obtained by the following formula:
    0.7 x CA + 0.3 x I, on a scale of 0 to 20.

     

    The communications and the final results of the evaluation will be disclosed by email notification tothecandidates.
    If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested grant, the candidates have aperiodof 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to express their opinion, ifdesired,in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of the Administrative Procedure.

    Additional comments

    Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academic degreeordiploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by a declaration of honor bythecandidate, although substantiation of this condition is mandatory during the grant contracting stage.
    Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution inaccordancewith Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25th. Thepresentationof the recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
