Offer Description
A tender is now open for the attribution of a research grant within the scope of the project “Open2preserve – Modelos de gestão sustentável de espaços abertos de montanha de elevado valor ambiental”, with the reference SOE2/P5/E0804.
This scholarship is for a student graduate in environment or hydrography.
The scholarship will have an initial duration of 6 months, starting on 15/11/2023, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of 12 months.
Work Plan:
1) Modeling the behavior of precipitation and temperature and their projection for 50 years;
(2) Evaluation of the relationship between water availability and the grazing regime, as well as its dynamics;
(3) Assessment of producers’ perceptions of the changing regimes;
(3) Co-production of 1 scientific article.

Skills/Qualifications
Candidates must have a degree in the area of environment or hydrography and undergo training in the area of Environmental Sciences. Having experience working in a research team will be a preferential condition.

Benefits
The amount of the grant corresponds to € 930,98 €, according to the table of values of the grants awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country. The fellow will also benefit from a personal accident insurance, and if not included in any social security protocol, may adhere to the Portuguese Social Security through the Seguro Social Voluntário (Voluntary Social Security), in the terms present in the Portuguese Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social. The monthly salary will be payed monthly by bank transfer.
Eligibility criteria
1) Degree in the area of environment or hydrography;
2) Training in the area of Environmental Sciences;
3) Skills in geographic information systems as applied to the monitoring, analyzing, and modeling hydrology, precipitation, and sedimentology.
Selection process
The selection methods to be used will be the following:
a) curriculum vitae (35%);
b) interview (30%);
c) motivation letter (25%);
d) other elements relevant to the curriculum vitae (10%);
The jury will be composed José Castro, João Paulo Castro, Marina Castro.
The communications and the final results of the evaluation will be disclosed by email notification to the candidates.
If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of the Administrative Procedure.
Additional comments
Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academic degree or diploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by a declaration of honor by the candidate, although substantiation of this condition is mandatory during the grant contracting stage.
Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25th. The presentation of the recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
