The Global Green Growth Institute internship program provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. We encourage qualified women and men, in particular, nationals of developing countries, with diverse professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds to apply.
GGGI has a wide-ranging portfolio of programs in developing countries, focusing on delivering impactful results through evidence-based green growth planning and implementation that align with national development priorities. Additionally, the organization is deeply involved in knowledge development and management, establishing a solid theoretical and empirical foundation for green growth and offering practical policy guidance and investment advice.
GGGI Cambodia is hosted by the Ministry of Environment (MOE) and works closely with other line ministries, including the Ministry of Public Work and Transport (MPWT), the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). At the sub-national level, GGGI Cambodia supports the Phnom Penh Capital Administration and municipalities of Kep, Sihanoukville, Suong, Bavet, Battambang, Siem Reap, and Kampong Cham. The program’s focus areas include sustainable energy, waste management, green mobility, and green innovative financing, aiming to facilitate green city planning, promote the diffusion of green growth concepts and tools, and support the creation of bankable green city projects that enhance climate change resilience and improve the livelihoods of urban poor populations.
CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in the Operations Unit to provide operational support to the country program, specifically in relation to carrying out day to day activities of the operations. This internship will be based in the GGGI office within the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
The assignment will include the following but not limited to:
- Support team members in the implementation of GGGI Cambodia’s programs
- Assist with events/protocol preparation and travel arrangements for all GGGI Cambodia projects
- Facilitate meeting arrangements with stakeholders
- Assist the management of office supplies and assets and other administrative
- management
- Liaison with government stakeholders and others for follow up and receiving confirmation on meetings with project stakeholders,
- Assist in research such as information & data gathering for the transport sector
- Assist in conducting a literature review for the transport sector, when necessary.
- Work with communication associate on design, photography, videography, project documentation & publication such as layout and formatting reports in Khmer and English versions
- Support social media and other outreach activities
- Provide translation and interpreting whenever needed
- Other admin and logistics support at the MPWT office
- Provide research support to the thematic teams as needed.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
- Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
- Possess an excellent command of English.
- Proficiency in Khmer language
QUALIFICATION
- Knowledge about sustainable transport would is recommended
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Khmer and English
- Experience with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn…)
- Experience with content creation (e.g., writing blog posts, press releases, social media content…)
- Experience in admin, logistics, and other communications.
