DescriptionApprenticeship: Business Administration Level 3Contract length: 18 monthsThe Camden Public Safety Division plays an important role in engaging with local communities, statutory partners and community organisations to deliver the Council’s mission to ensure that ‘Everyone is safe at home and safe in our communities’. The service focuses on community engagement, promoting the importance of the ‘citizen voice’ in informing the development and delivery of a range of council/partnership crime and anti-social behaviour reduction measures.During the contract, the Community Safety Antisocial Behaviour Apprentice will learn to solve problems and develop the ability to assess and present data effectively. You will need resilience to face challenging situations. As you progress, you will develop strong communication and influencing skills, and contribute to decisions regarding how to make best use of community safety resources.You will support interventions to tackle antisocial behaviour within partnership settings, and develop an understanding of the risk assessment processes and the legal responsibilities related to child protection and vulnerable adults. You will also learn about restorative approaches and be involved in community engagement, learning how to empower victims while navigating sensitive situations related to tackling crime and antisocial behaviour with empathy and determination.You will work closely with a range of internal services, statutory partners and community organisations to deliver positive outcomes in line with the relevant Council policy, statutory legislation and best practice guidance.The successful candidate must be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.DutiesIn this role you will …

• Undertake an ongoing learning and development program to gain knowledge of statutory/non statutory enforcement powers and interventions to address anti-social behaviour and environmental crime related issues.

• Learn to support the ASB Team to investigate all allocated anti-social behaviour related cases and investigate complaints from residents, members of the public and businesses concerning anti-social behaviour.

• Work with a range of partners to support the management of Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) related cases and act as a single point of contact for internal services, council partners and elected members.

• Learn to support Antisocial Behaviour Officers, Community Safety Officers, Housing Officers and a range of partner organisations to develop specific action plans and initiatives designed to address reported anti-social behaviour. Support wider anti-social behaviour and crime reduction related initiatives.

• Log, process and analyse data gathered from front line staff to inform future initiatives.

• Learn to support the ongoing development of the community safety partnership with the Metropolitan Police and other partners

• Contribute towards Housing Estate ASB/crime reduction action plans.

• Learn to support the council response to serious incidents and civil emergencies as directed by the Community Safety Enforcement Area Manager and/or the Head of Community Safety & Enforcement

• Learn to support the development of tailored ASB reduction initiatives which respond to the specific needs and concerns raised by local communities.

Essential criteriaThe team is looking for candidates who have a strong commitment towards engaging with communities and are enthusiastic about the council’s aims outlined withinYou will be passionate about neighbourhood problem solving and will have a strong commitment towards personal/professional development. You will also be open to change and committed to support services to achieve positive outcomes on behalf of Camden citizens.In addition:– You are committed to studying towards completing the Level 3 qualification in Business Administration( and achieving functional skills in maths and English if relevant)
– You are excited to gain appropriate work experience to your complement studies. To work across the service and with partners to develop and deliver innovative, best practice community safety solutions.
– You are ready to learn how and to provide operational support for community safety, such as:

• Triaging Anti Social Behaviour reports
• Responding to emails
• Recording information requests
• Using information managements systems to scan and record data
• Organising, managing and diarising events for the service

– You are curious and open about how we can do things differently to deliver outcomes for citizens and service users.
– You are committed to supporting continuous service improvement.– You are committed to learning about our best practice approach towards the delivery of on-street enforcement and anti-social behaviour reduction focused activity.– You recognise the importance of working in partnership with other services internally and externally to deliver outcomes on behalf of Camden citizens and communities.– You are committed and will champion the council’s ambition to make Camden a more equal, diverse and inclusive borough.Additional informationTo apply for this role, applicants must:

• Be a Camden resident, former Camden secondary school student or a Camden care leaver.
• Be at Level 1 standard in English and maths (those without certificates can be assessed to check you are at the appropriate standard) and a commitment to work towards a Level 2 as a part of the apprenticeship.
• Not have a Business Administration qualification at level 3 or higher
• Not be an overseas national subject to employment or learning restrictions and/or a time or a limit on my stay (other than a refugee or asylum seeker)
• Be ordinarily resident in the England, EU or EAA for at least the previous three years before the start of the programme.
• Not be attending any other school, Further Education or Higher Education institution.
• Be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check
