Camp Program Specialist – Ropes Facilitator

YMCA Camp Jones Gulch, La Honda, CA

$616/week, shared housing & food for duration

May 26th-August 8th, with pre- and post-camp options available on a limited basis

Camp Jones Gulch is looking for summer ropes staff to join us in the Redwoods! Experience with high ropes/climbing walls/challenge courses preferred, but not required. Paid training will be provided.

This is a dynamic team role that works closely with Cabin Leaders to create a safe, engaging, and enjoyable camp environment. This role involves living in a cabin with campers and fellow staff while facilitating specialized activities such as the climbing tower, zip line, dynamic & static challenge courses for campers and user groups. Responsibilities also include collaborating with Cabin Leaders to support camper well-being, setting up and breaking down program areas, assisting with evening programs, and providing additional cabin support as needed.

Program Specialists live in a cabin shared with other specialists, and may also be assigned to a camper cabin during high occupancy weeks.

Ropes training will begin on May 26th, 2025

Camp Jones Gulch is nestled in the Santa Cruz mountains where coastal redwoods stand tall and beautiful overlooking camp. CJG is approx one hour from San Francisco and we are also 25 minuets from the beach. There are plenty of small towns around us where staff can explore and get groceries without going to the big city. Camp is also home to old growth coastal redwoods, we call this area the valley of the giants, we work with a group called semper virens to make sure we keep this old growth copse of trees protected and healthy for generations to come.
