Position Summary

and to advance economic mobility in the most underinvested
neighborhoods in the region. Consistent with this strategic plan,
in 2023 the Foundation launched the three-year $75 Million

economic justice and ensure The Community Foundation’s ability to

The Campaign Manager will report to the Managing Director,
Development and will collaborate with members of the Foundation’s
campaign counsel, operations, finance, marketing and
communications, and Program Investment teams. Externally, the
Campaign Manager will work directly with prospects, donors,
consultants, and key volunteers to drive the campaign’s
success.

In addition to the duties described in this position
description, every role at The Community Foundation is expected to
contribute to the organization’s overall success and its goals.
This may mean that team members will be asked to take on other
tasks that may not be listed here. Examples may include working on
a project or specific task outside your standard area of
responsibility, participating in an organization-wide task force or
special initiative, or being asked to support a colleague when
needed. Any additional tasks will be determined by the manager of
this role in coordination with the leadership team.

Primary Responsibilities

This role requires skill and aptitude for engaging internal and
external stakeholders to advance the Foundation’s mission. The
principal responsibilities include the following:

  • Work closely with the Managing Director of Development and
    Campaign Counsel to design, implement, and oversee campaign giving,
    financial reporting, data management, prospect research, and
    stewardship.
  • Regularly engage with Board members, campaign leadership, and
    key volunteers.
  • Collaborate with Development team members to understand their
    portfolios and align them with campaign-related events, meetings,
    and presentations.
  • Plan and execute campaign events
  • Manage all aspects of prospect research, cultivation, and donor
    engagement to ensure campaign goals are met.

·       Support campaign
fundraising proposal development, including corporations,
foundations, and individuals.

  • Support follow up from prospect and donor meetings: ensure
    donors receive follow up and materials, and track all actions.
  • Conduct prospect identification and research to understand
    donor networks in the region.

Operational Responsibilities

·       Regularly attend Campaign
Committee and Board meetings to present key data on campaign
progress.

·       Track and maintain all
campaign and related funds in the Raiser’s Edge and FIMS databases,
in close coordination with Donor Services and Finance teams.

·       Plan and carry out a
series of campaign-related events in the Washington, DC region.

·       Collect and analyze data
for accuracy and completeness. Compose, edit, and proofread
correspondence and other documents.

·       Book pledges in database,
notifying appropriate staff or volunteers any on-going pledge
payments and coordinate pledge reminders per donors’
specifications.

·       Ensure that every campaign
pledge and gift is recorded in a timely manner and steward each
donor accordingly.

·       Update campaign reports
and distribute as needed, including monthly campaign
dashboards.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience is required, including
    experience managing and leading effective fundraising
    campaigns.
  • Technology fluency with Raiser’s Edge, database
    development/maintenance, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel,
    Access, and PowerPoint software); and electronic
    communications.
  • Expertise with prospect management and development
    strategies.
  • Experience working with a foundation or community foundation
    are preferred.
  • Exceptional planning, project management, and organizational
    skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal),
    interpersonal skills, the ability to work well with a wide range of
    colleagues, and the ability to interact respectfully with people of
    diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures.
  • Working knowledge of concepts and demonstrated commitment to
    advancing racial equity and inclusion.
  • Sound judgment: ability to manage time effectively;
    flexibility; self-discipline and initiative; ability to work with
    minimal supervision.
  • Strong interest in philanthropy or nonprofit sector/community
    work as evidenced through education and/or previous jobs, or
    volunteer experience.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary for the position starts at $94,100.00. Salary
commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Community
Foundation offers benefits and programs that inspire a culture of
