Wolfe’s Neck Oceanfront Camping For over 50 years, Wolfe’s Neck Oceanfront Camping (WNOC) has welcomed campers from all over the world to our more than 600-acre campus, including four miles of oceanfront along Maine’s coastline.  Encompassing 150 tent and RV sites, 5 Cabins and A-Frames as well as comfort and quiet camping options, WNOC provides a variety of outdoor camping and recreation experiences to help individuals and families connect with the outdoors, food, and farming.

Position Summary Wolfe’s Neck Center (WNC) is seeking an experienced, organized, creative and energetic Campground Manager. This position is an integral part of the Visitor Experience and Education team, ensuring that all WNC visitors and campers have the best possible experience. The Campground Manager is a full-time, year-round position reporting to the Director of Visitor Education and Experience. A successful Campground Manager will work  collaboratively with staff across the organization to ensure a positive experience for all of our campers and visitors, providing them with meaningful outdoor experiences that connect with WNC’s mission and values.Responsibilities

• Overall management and coordination of all WNOC functions, including 150-site campground operations, farm store, reservation management and associated software, bike, kayak and other equipment rentals, housekeeping functions, and security.
• Work collaboratively with the Visitor Education and Experience team (VEE) to identify and support programs to connect campground visitors with WNC’s mission.
• With the support of our Finance and Operations team, oversee revenue and expenses related to campground operations, reservations, and the Farm Store, including managing related software (Camplife) and Farm Store (Square).
• Oversee team of 15+ WNOC seasonal staff working in the Farm Store, on camper reservations and customer service, housekeeping, and security, including recruitment, hiring, supervision, and day-to-day management.
• Stay up to date on best practices and outdoor recreation industry trends, particularly those related to safety, sustainability, technology, and the visitor experience.
• Work with the Advancement team on communications and marketing strategies for reservations and camper engagement.
• Communicate and support campers’ end-to-end experience from fielding inquiries, making reservations to post-visit surveys, ensuring robust, effective, and responsive communication throughout with a strong orientation to customer service.
• Work with the VEE Director and Finance and Operations team to develop and manage the WNOC and Recreation  budget, ensuring effective monitoring, controls and reporting of daily and weekly financials during the operating season.
• Oversee systems for all rental equipment enterprises and developing and maintaining procedures for the safe and effective rental, use and maintenance of WNC’s fleet of rental equipment (kayaks, canoes, PFD’s, paddles, bicycles and helmets).

Qualifications

• Minimum of three to five years in a management role in a campground, hospitality setting and/or visitor center or comparable organization/ business.
• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Hospitality, Recreation Management, Outdoor Recreation, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Google Suite or similar software as well as database management and POS system management.
• Extensive experience in hiring, training, and motivating staff with a wide scope of responsibilities and experience. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a high functioning team and develop effective working relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds.
• Strong interpersonal skills and public communication abilities, including excellent customer service and management ability with a diverse workforce.
• Strong management skills, including time, people, budget, and projects with keen attention to detail and a track record of effectively planning and prioritizing competing tasks.
• Ability to deal with high levels of autonomy, and ability to be flexible to the changing needs of a vibrant and growing entrepreneurial organization, and to work well under pressure.

Other Requirement

• Must be able to balance a variable work schedule, which includes weekends and holidays during the summer season; summer schedule will generally include at least 1 weekend day per week.
• Legally able to work in the United States (we cannot provide VISA sponsorship).
• Successful completion of a background check.
• Must be 21+ years of age in order to operate a vehicle under Wolfe’s Neck Center insurance.
• Ability to work from the Wolfe’s Neck Center campus in Freeport, ME.

$50,000 – $60,000 a yearAs a full-time employee of Wolfe’s Neck Center, this position is eligible for benefits including health insurance, dental insurance, three weeks paid vacation and six sick days, Maine state holidays off, and our retirement savings plan. Compensation commensurate with experience.
